what is the heart chakraWhen your heart chakra is open and balanced, you feel in control of life, senses are more astute and you find yourself being more accepting of others. The opposite holds true with an unhealthy heart chakra. Being defensive, critical, controlling, suspicious, withdrawn, possessive and afraid of letting go can make you stressed and unhappy with your life. Here are some tips for opening the heart chakra or removing blockages that occur.

Healing with Nature

Air is the natural element that is associated with the heart chakra. Spend as much time as you can outdoors, breathing in the fresh air. Take a walk away from the crowd and see the colors and the beauty that we have been blessed with. Meditation with nature is wonderful for balancing the love, patience and gratitude that comes from the heart chakra.

Recommended Crystals

Shades of green are relative to the heart chakra and keeping them near in the form of crystals can help attract and open the fourth chakra. Rose colored crystals also work well with the color green. Some popular gems include Rose Quartz, Jade, Green Aventurine, Emerald, Green Tourmaline, Malachite, Rhodochrosite and Chrysoprase.

Essence of Aromatherapy

Essential oils of Angelica, Marjoram, Hyssop, Lavendar, Neroli, Melissa, Rose, Chamomile, Ylang ylang, Jasmine, Sandalwood, Rosemary, and Frankincense are incredibly soothing and help to transform your heart to a more balanced state. Practice forgiveness while meditating and taking in the aroma of these chosen oils.

Yoga

Yoga can help to bring the other chakras into play when one has lost its balance. Try elongating your lower back while focusing on the stretch and opening in your upper back. This allows your heart and other surrounding organs to gain freedom and as you let go, you will feel the heart center lift and begin to open.

Do not allow negativity to interrupt your goal in bringing openness to your heart chakra. Close out these sounds with chants in ‘B’ or use another form of sound therapy for shutting out the world. It is not always easy to keep the heart chakra from blockages, but once you know how to balance, you will feel in control and loving toward others.
