Tips for Happiness
Happiness doesn’t start with good things happening. In fact, it is quite the opposite; Good things happening starts with happiness. In order to be happy, you must first be happy. I know that sounds redundant. But it is absolutely true. Negative feelings attract negative occurrences. When the house is a mess, your boss yelled at you, supper burns and your children are screaming, it is hard to imagine being happy. You have to ask yourself, why are these small irritations building? Discontent has a cascading effect. If you get caught in traffic and end up late to work, often you know ahead of time your workday will be a mess. It is your discontent that causes this unhappiness. That discontent can be curtailed and eliminated before it gets too far.
One way to avoid the snowballing effect of unhappiness is to start each morning, clearing away negative thoughts and protecting yourself from the spiraling outbreak of unhappiness. Take time every morning to settle your mind and help clear away the thoughts of discontent. That does not mean blind acceptance of the situation, but instead knowing there is another source of intelligent energy that can handle the situation, or help you handle it, can allow you to stop focusing on the problem. Focusing on the problem and the ensuing fear or anger make it more prominent in your life. It opens the door to other negative forces and weakens your body and mind. When you release problems to the Universe, God or whatever entity is part of your belief system, you are handing it over with full assurance it will be handled correctly.
Consider this. You tend to attract and give power to situations, people and things by focusing on them. Unless you clear away the cobwebs of negativity and bring a ray of light into your thoughts, you will continue to have negative things occur. By retaining a positive, happy demeanor, things that might have affected you previously will no longer be a huge issue. That does not mean there will not be traffic jams and crying babies. It just means the way you react to them will be different and they will not cascade you out of control. Happiness has the same snowball effect as unhappiness, so it is a good idea to learn to see problems as opportunities and hand those problems over to your higher being or energy to do the work. You can then focus all your energy on being peaceful and happy.
